Top Ten Tuesday - Holiday Wishlist

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They feature a different top ten list every week. This week's topic is Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree.

Truthfully, I am not a big fan of people giving me books as gifts . . . unless they are ones I specifically ask for. I just don't like people giving me books when they have no clue what my tastes are. I usually get 90% of my books on Kindle anyway. But there are some physical books that are on my wish list these year. These are books that either don't have a Kindle version available (scandalous!) or the covers are so pretty that I just need the physical copies in my life.

1. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
2. Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
3. Replica (Replica #1) by Lauren Oliver
4. The Whole 30: The Official 30 day guide to total health and food freedom by Melissa Hartwig
5. The Men with the Pink Triangle: The true life-and-death story of homosexuals in the Nazi death camps by Heinz Heger
6. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: The Illustrated Edition (Harry Potter #2) by J.K. Rowling
7. A Light in the Attic Special Edition by Shel Silverstein
8. Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm by Whitney Miller

And here are a few book related items that I wouldn't mind seeing underneath my Christmas tree:

How adorable are these Harry Potter Hogwarts pajama pants and this Belle's Book Cafe T-shirt??

What are a few books that you would want for Christmas? Or, are you like me, and you don't really like others to get you books as gifts?

  1. I need reasons! Reasons why you want these :) very curious. Except for Gemina, cause that's obvious and it's on my list too.

    1. Evelina, ha. Well I do prefer physical copies of the cookbooks because I LOVE food porn! And a few of the other books don't have Kindle versions (crazy, right?) and like Gemina, Replica has a format that sounds like it might be better in the physical version. :)

  2. The illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is on my wishlist as well :) And Illuminae, because I really need to start that series! But that Hogwarts pants and Belle's Book Cafe t-shirt look so adorable as well!

  4. I love my family members, but for awhile there, my nieces were buying me any book they came across just because "Aunt Katie's a reader, so she'll love this book!". But yes, unless I specifically ask for a title, or you just knwo me that well, please, just bring me gloves or sunglasses, I always need those things.;)

Also, I might have to see if my library has The Whole 30 cookbook!

    1. Kate, ha I hate when people do that! I have had people do that too. They have old books and they just give them to me because I am a reader and they assume I will love anything. Umm, no. :)

  5. Just like you I prefer to pick my own books. I think bookish pressies like the pj's are a much better idea.

    1. Trish, it's just so hard for others to know what books I love, right? :)

  6. The book about Homosexuals in the Nazi camp sounds like something I should read. IT'll probably kill me but I want to read it anyway.

I hope you'll get all you wished for this Christmas!

    1. Joy, doesn't it sound interesting? I found it on a recent WWII book search I was doing (yes, I do that). I realized that I hadn't ever read anything about the persecution of homosexuals during WWII and this one came up on my radar.

  7. I love the Hogwarts pajamas! I think I need a pair. :) And I agree, sometimes a book cover is just so pretty that I have to have it, even if a perfectly reasonable Kindle edition is available. I hope at least some of your wishes come true this Christmas!
